The dream of a veterans’ memorial that recognizes the military history of our community and allows for a place to reflect on the sacrifices that all veterans made was realized when the Veterans’ Memorial Park was dedicated on September 9, 2006. This 21-acres park is located at Bailey Street and North Menlo Avenue. This site which is north of Terrace Park was used by the US Army Air Corps during World War II.

The Sioux Falls Veterans’ Memorial Park Advisory Board was appointed by the Mayor in 2001, to assist with the planning, design, and fund-raising for the construction of the park. The board is made up of five members, each serving a five-year term.
