Pat was born on June 9, 1966 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. While growing up in Sioux Falls, he was active in various sports and the Boy Scouts of America. In January 1980, Pat achieved the Eagle Scout Award from the Boys Scouts of America. After graduating from high school he attended Arizona State University. During the summers of his college years, Pat attended Creighton University to explore additional educational opportunities. Throughout both high school and college, he worked the summers in the family rental property business and various construction jobs.
Upon completion of his Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in accounting, from Arizona State University in 1988; and obtaining his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate, Pat worked for Coopers & Lybrand in Phoenix. Combined with the realization of the poor economic environment in Phoenix, an excellent economic environment in South Dakota, and a desire to return home, he moved back to Sioux Falls in 1989. Pat worked for Eide Helmeke and Company as a CPA until 1991. In May of 1991, he opened Fuddruckers in Sioux Falls and began his career in the food and beverage industry.
On May 15, 2006, Pat was sworn in as a City Council member for the City of Sioux Falls. As a City Council member he has served on: the Fiscal Committee, Audit Committee, Public Services Committee, Metro Communications Council, Urbanized Development Committee, Mayor’s Event Center Task Force, and Southeastern Council of Governments.
Pat and his wife Shawn have three children: J.P., Meredith and John. While most of his time is consumed by family, professional, and civic responsibilities, when time allows Pat enjoys golf, hunting, and cooking. |
