Councilor De Knudson was elected to the Sioux Falls City Council in April 2002.

Knudson describes herself as a civic activist who works tirelessly to improve our community. She has been a statewide leader in the effort to rid South Dakota of video gambling for the past thirteen years, has worked with refugee families for twenty-five years, is a nationally known chess organizer, has two sons, Michael and Mark, and has been married to State Senator Dave Knudson for over thirty years.

Raised in Blunt, Councilor Knudson has a Master's degree in English and has taught at the middle school, high school, and college level. She is an active member at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and currently serves on the Sioux Falls Sports Authority Board.

Councilor Knudson serves on the Public Services Committee and is an alternate for the South Eastern Council of Government Board.

She welcomes input from citizens on all city-related issues and appreciates the opportunity to serve in this capacity.
