City News/Planning Preview

City News, a program featuring City news and information, airs the first half of each month at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. daily. Planning Preview, a preview of proposed and upcoming projects from the Sioux Falls Planning Department, airs in this timeslot during the two weeks prior to the next Planning Commission meeting.

  • City News: Junior Football Complex Announcement

    The City of Sioux Falls has secured an offer of space for badly needed expansion of its South Dakota Junior Football program.

    The land, located in western Sioux Falls north of Benson Road, could be used for a total of 14 fields, with eight being constructed in the first phase of development. The City currently uses land at Riverdale Park for junior football, which has outgrown the three fields available there.

    The new land, a total of 50 acres, is proposed to be donated by Sanford Health as part of a new youth athletic complex.

Under the agreement, the city will then pipe methane gas from the landfill to the ethanol plant. This will help reduce the amount of natural gas POET has to use at it's ethanol plant. The landfill could begin delivering methane to POET sometime in 2009.

  • City News: East Side Sanitary Sewer Pump Station Open House
    The City of Sioux Falls along with the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce held a formal ribbon cutting on Monday, July 23, 2007, at 11:30 a.m. for a significant project related to the new eastside sanitary sewer system. The new pump station is located near the Big Sioux River and 57th Street. Once complete, the entire project will open up 23,000 acres for development.
